Centurion Gate Motors Explained

 Motors in South Africa

By far the most popular motors in South Africa are sliding motors, as compared to Europe, where swing motors are more popular. In South Africa slide motors probably make up 80% of the market. Centurion is one of the most popular motor suppliers in Johannesburg, and they have 3 motors in the sliding range.

Their lowest motor, called the D2, is generally considered too lightweight for normal use and so is infrequently installed.

The D5 is probably the most popular machine in South Africa. It is a 12V motor and works off the 12V 7amp battery. It has 17 kg of thrust and is ideal for light residential use. The downside is that it is quite easy to break into. The upside is that, being the most common machine around, it is very easy to get parts for.

The next motor in order of size is the Centurion D10 which is a 24V motor as opposed to 12V (as per the D5). It has 30 kg of thrust and is ideal for residential and light industrial town house complexes. It has a higher duty cycle with 30 kg of thrust.

Centurion also has the A10 motor which is a three-phase motor. It is used on heavier gates but is infrequently used in South Africa.
