Simon explains why the new generation Centurion D5 SMART sliding gate motor battery is better than its predecessor, the Centurion Evo.

Interview on MixFM radio station with Simon Gore, Marketing Manager at www.centuriongatemotors.co.za

Al your Pal:
“Talking security in your home, and the first point of security that anybody really looks at is your entrance when you coming in or going out of your home."

"You're going to be sharing with us new technology you use and new technology that people should be aware of when it comes to driveway gates and the opening and closing of those gates.”

Simon:
“As I think everybody is aware, your gate entrance is probably your most dangerous point and where you are most susceptible to being attacked and hijacked. So your gate motor is literally going to save your life. And the new technology coming from Centurion's systems, who we've partnered with recently as well to become one of their major installers, is the new D5 SMART motor."

"The Motor is a 24v motor, not a 12v motor like they made in the older devices, EVOs.  Centurion is transferring industrial technology to a more domestic application, even though we use these motors on small townhouse complexes as well. So now you're getting a twenty four volt motor, which converts to more power and more speed. The bottom line is that it moves more quickly. It's got more power and it's got two batteries, not one.”

Al your Pal:
“We know the kind of power problems all over South Africa, we got Eskom problems all the time. Does that mean that you've got a bit more life on your gate motor in the case of a power cut?”

Simon:
“Oh yes. You've got probably two, even maybe three times more life because the system has also new technology, which causes the machine to automatically go into power saving mode. When the power goes off, it starts traveling a little bit more slowly. So visually you can see that your power is off. So if you arrive home, you push the button and the gate starts traveling a bit more slowly. You know, there's a problem. The power is off either to the gate or to a whole house.  Then you can have a chance to sort the problem out before the battery runs flat, which is not the case in the older motors."

“So there's technologies with the battery lasting longer, but also that you are able to identify the problem before the problem becomes a real problem. You don't want this guy to fail because that's when you're going to get a gun at your head. So what we're doing is replacing a lot of the old technology with the new Centurion sliding gate motor, simply because it's got better battery life, it's faster has got better technology."
